The “degree” of a Panama hat is a measure of the quality of the straw fabric with which it is made.
Grade measures the amount of straw threads in a square inch of fabric, more threads being matched to better quality.

The following grades are available for Hats made in Cuenca:
Standard: 70-120 stitches per inch (weft width) & amp; Up to AA 12.-170 dots per inch
The following grades are available for hats made in Montecristo:
Standard | 170-220 – Fino | 220-350 – Superfino 350-600 – Pile | 600/800 dots per inch
